Itinerary: Day 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 7 - 8 - 9 ...next
Day 6 (Saturday) - to Drake Bay and Osa Peninsula (tropical rain forest)After breakfast in Sierpe we'll meet our boat and travel down the river and through biologically rich coastal mangrove habitat (including the rare Red Mangrove) to the open Pacific. Along our way we'll see several species of herons, Ibis, and many other birds, plus alligators! We will arrive at Drake Bay Wilderness Resort, a comfortable resort that will be our home base for the next three days, by noon. Drake Bay is on the north side of the Peninsula de Osa, location of one of Costa Rica's best known national parks, Parque Nacional Corcovado (National Geographic calls this a "rainforest gem", "the most biologically intense place on earth".). After getting settled and having lunch, we'll have time for an afternoon siesta, or a hike or swim. Dinner will be served in the resort's dining room.
